Jake Wightman (handicap -7.1) topped the runbritain National Ladder for the first time after his recent middle distance medley of top class events that saw him rise to 2nd on the all time runbritain rankings for 1500m with 3:29.47 and 11th on the all time list for 800m with 1:44.18. Added to this,Jake's rise to thetop came on the 10th birthday of the runbritain rankings, which was the brainchild ofhis father and coach, Geoff Wightman.

Mass Kew Gardens 10k event headlines with social distancing success

Mass running is officially back! The largest social distancing running event in the UK happened over the weekend. 3,500 runners got back to some sort of normality by running in the socially distanced Kew Gardens 10k, all inside the Royal Botanic Gardens in London. It also had a top runbritain ranking 10k time for 2020 junior men!

Weekend update includes world lead for Laura Muir

Laura Muir ran the fastest time in the world over 1500m to win the prestigious ISTAF athletics meeting in Berlin with Laura Weightman running a PB in second place. Other great middle distance performances were seen in Poland whilst Kew gardens hosted the biggest event yet since lockdown wtih almost 2000 finishers on Saturday and 1600 on Sunday.

Mo Farah wins Antrim Coast Half Marathon

Sir Mo Farah followed his recent World one-hour record with another impressive run. This time, Sir Mo was in Larne, Northern Ireland, on the scenic 13.1 mile route of the P O Antrim Coast event. Finishing in just over the hour he was a popular winner, as was Lily Partridge who took the women's title in 71-minutes. Tommy Hughes had the best age related performance of the day on the WAVA calculated tables as he took another M60 world record.
